(I have more/better pictures somewhere, but I am having a hard time finding them... so I may add another Alaska post after I find them.)
Bryan's family goes up every year, but it was my first time and I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. When we flew in, I was watching out my airplane window and told Bryan that this didn't even look real because it was so pretty.
There was Deadliest Catch stuff everywhere! I thought of my cousin Ryan almost every day.
Views of Sitka from the bridge. As you can tell... it's a booming metropolis.
But really, it's gorgeous.
We woke up almost every day at about 4 am so we could be out on the water early. Then we would fish all day and come home, shower, eat, paint a little and then go to sleep. It was so much fun. It helps that I have the best in-laws in the whole world.
My first salmon! I bucked it up after this and actually held it.
My face aside, please check out the background of that picture-- seriously, that's real.
We saw bears.
And bald eagles. Actually, bald eagles will come swoop down and grab fish by the boat.
Coolest thing ever.
310 pounds of fish.
Sitka airport.
Driving back to Utah with all our stuff, plus 150 pounds of fish!
Home sweet home.
My adorable family took care of our apartment while we were gone.
Honestly, Alaska was so much fun. I absolutely loved it.
We caught ridiculous amounts of fish, saw so many beautiful animals (humpback whales, porpoises, otters, sea lions, puffins, eagles, bears, jellyfish etc...), ate amazingly fresh fish, painted a little (more on that later too!) laughed and honestly just had the best time. Bryan and my father-in-law are just so happy up there and it's so fun to be able to share in their hobbies. I am so excited to go back.
